Hardwood Spoon Carving- March 2025
Price range: $130.00 through $155.00In this class students will design, shape and carve a serving spoon. Skills explored include: making a template and transferring it to a blank, carving and shaping the bowl and back of the spoon, use of hand tools such as gouges, scrapers, coping saws, and spokeshaves, and sanding and finishing techniques. Students will leave class with a beautiful handcrafted hardwood spoon to use in their own kitchens or to give as a gift!

Harp Making- August 2025
Price range: $570.00 through $620.00Come build a Paraguayan harp. This harp is characterized by a large soundbox with a rounded base, very light weight, closely-spaced light tension strings (usually nylon), a relatively flat harmonic curve, and with the strings running up through the center of the neck, which are tuned with gear-style tuners (like a guitar). Almost all harps of this style are played with the fingernails, in very rhythmically intricate music. This is the national instrument of Paraguay, and is commonly found throughout South America, Central America and in parts of Mexico. Students will be using tools from the past and today, to fashion an instrument that will last a lifetime. After this class you may even want to learn to play your beautiful new harp!

Herbal Tinctures, Oils Liniments & Poultices- June 2025
Price range: $110.00 through $135.00In the morning there will be discussion and demonstration of the different methods of making herbal oils. We will make an Herbal Bug Repellent Oil and a drawing Liniment from plants that grow in the instructor's medicinal garden. We will discuss various methods of using Herbal Poultices and learn about the plants that work as healing herbals oils. Learn about Plantain, Comfrey, Jewelweed, Calendula, Yarrow, St, John's Wort, and Solomon Seal and how, when to use them. The instructor will demo how to turn the oils into a salve. Echinacea will be in bloom and we will make an Echinacea Tincture. There will be discussion of making herbal tinctures and students will learn which plants work well as tinctures.

Hiker (Small) Adirondack Pack Basket by Linda Scherz- August 2025
Price range: $285.00 through $330.00The Adirondack Pack Basket is one of the most recognized objects associated with the Adirondacks. Create your own pack basket patterned from the traditional Adirondack Pack Baskets. Adults and children can wear this pack. Students will weave a plain weave base with the pre-cut spokes. Then learn to continuous weave the sides of the basket, pack tight, level the top, weave a false rim, cut, and tuck, insert the wood handle, fit the rim and lash on basket. Lastly, add an adjustable webbing or leather harness secured with wood skids. This class will be fun for all weavers. This is a great intro size pack to making pack baskets. Linda will demonstrate, teach you weaving techniques and guide you while you weave your basket. Students will be using a drawknife and other sharp tools. Instructor will bring all materials to make the basket. Baskets will not be stained during class. Dimensions are 6" x 9" x 14" high.

Holiday Pyrography- December 2025

How to Tell a Story Part 2- August 2025
Price range: $110.00 through $135.00This course explores the three-act story structure in greater detail and focuses on how to turn a short personal narrative or another story idea into a full-length screenplay/play, novel, or memoir. In this four week class, students with learn the techniques necessary to create multi- dimensional characters, develop a compelling plot, and identify the themes that will tie the elements of their story together. Students will leave with the tools they need to begin a first draft or revise an existing one. Course Prerequisite: How to Tell a Story Pt. 1 or instructor permission.

Hues of the Hudson: Adirondack Plein Air Painting- July 2025

Hunter Star- April 2025
Price range: $110.00 through $135.00This block shines as a two-color quilt or becomes quite playful when designed as a scrappy quilt. You will create enough blocks to construct a 40" x 40" lap quilt, wall hanging or table topper. The blocks created in the block party classes will be cut using the Acuquilt cutting system. This system improves accuracy in cutting and reduces the stress on your hands often felt while cutting large amounts of small units of fabric for the quilt blocks.

Introduction to Clay/Ceramics – Hand Building- March 2025
Price range: $155.00 through $180.00Clay arts has historical common traditions across all cultures. It is easy to shape, sculpt and transform into ceramics. Imagine making bowls, cups, wind chimes and more…. through the use of clay medium. This two-day workshop allows for experimentation in creating various forms (2-3 pieces per student). On day one students will learn basic hand-building pottery techniques; explore pinch, coil and slab. After a drying period of three weeks, on the second day students will learn how to decorate and glaze their piece.

Introduction to Woodburning- June 2025

This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Introduction to Woodburning- March 2025
Price range: $122.00 through $147.00You don't have to be an artist to create wood burned art. This introduction to wood burning, also known as pyrography, will teach you how to create your own unique artwork. We will cover all the basics: safety, burners, tips, transferring images, wood species, adding color and protective finishes. Resources will also be shared for continued learning after class completion. In class, students will try out various tips to see what each is capable of. Students will then have the opportunity to work on up to three projects of nature or Adirondack inspired images.

Learn to Make Fresh Cheeses- October 2025

Make a Wood/Mosaic Coaster- April 2025
Price range: $275.00 through $325.00Each couple will make 2 (1 per person) custom Oak coasters with a mosaic center. On the first day of class, you will learn some woodworking skills by making a custom Oak frame with a Plywood base for your coaster that measures about 4.5 inches by 4.5 inches. On the second day, you will create a unique mosaic pattern on your coaster using Vitreous Glass whole tiles. You may choose 2 color preferences per coaster. We will use Weld Bond as our adhesive to glue the tiles to the base. (glue needs to dry overnight) On the third day, we will grout each coaster with a natural gray grout and clean with sponges. (grout needs to dry overnight) On the fourth day, we will continue to clean off any residue left on the tile from the grout. We will finish them with an antique oil finish. These coasters will give a welcome touch of color to any room in your home as they hold your favorite mug. They make great gifts as well!

Make Your Own Adirondack Chair- April 2025
Price range: $360.00 through $410.00In 1903, the first Adirondack chair was built in the town of Westport, N.Y. and has since taken the world by storm. Its contoured seat and back, along with its wide arms make it the perfect chair for lounging in after a hard day's work. You will start with surfaced pine, cut the pieces, shape them on a router table, sand them and then assemble your own Adirondack chair.

Map & Compass Fundamentals- April 2025
